Very useful for strain relief when using a rigid longer cable. In temporary installations, it also functions as a breakaway to prevent damage if the cable is pulled. The screen sometimes flashes when these are used with a long non-amplified cable, the additional connections of having one on each end may introduce just enough signal loss to cause an intermittent issue in extreme cases, but when they work, they're worth it.

It keeps the power bar from moving or falling behind my workbench. Not too exciting, but very useful, in that unplugging cords now only takes one hand. I did have to take the circlip off the end of the clamp to get it to fit without removing the return from the desk, and the current powerbar is narrower than the clamp so it needed a wedge to make it tight.
