Not a Good Long-Term Chair Mat ... This product does offer some protection for hardwood floors, but the benefit will likely be short-lived. The material is the same type used for a mouse pad — soft and flexible — which is not suited for regular rolling chair use. When the chair moves, the mat shifts and bunches up, which is inconvenient and could cause wear on the mat quickly. It is not a rigid surface, so it will not hold up to daily use for long. It may work temporarily, but if you need a durable, stable chair mat for hardwood floors, look for one made from hard, smooth material specifically designed for rolling chairs.

The mat does protect the floor but when a chair is on it, the mat rolls around with it. It’s the same material as a mouse pad but buyers beware with the mat moving
