Rather than a wall socket/jack (that would add 3 additional connection points !!!) this allows one continuous cable from source to target which is much much more reliable and faster (because fewer re-transmissions due to weak connections) and any extra slack can simply be pushed into the wall so that your patch to your PC is always the perfect length. Can use with or without a box/bracket behind the wall plate - I simply make a small 5/8 inch hole in drywall and then mount the back plate of this wall plate directly to the drywall with drywall screws - it holds because there is very little forces here.

Great product at a great price. Perfect finishing touch for in wall cable concealment. No gang box neccesary.

The opening was too small for my usage, however I cannot knock the product as it is exactly as pictured.

The description mentions mounting wings that secure it to the *back* of the drywall. This is not actually the case, you need to either screw it directly *into* the drywall or buy a separate low voltage mounting bracket with wings.
