The silicone on the front surface gives some stability and protection for the back of your devices. It may not be clear from the description, but there is a "button" in the middle which you press to adjust the height, and acts like a lock when you release it. While they put the silicone padding on the front "leg", they skimped out on doing the same for the back. It would have been minimal cost, and would have added to the stability, as well as protecting the surface of whatever you are standing this on. A very minor nitpick is that there are only 2 heights - you can't stop it at a height in between to the two settings, in case you need a specific height.

Nice handy stand for my cell phone mostly but big enough for a tablet. Solidly made.

Overall feels pretty sturdy. Height and angle are easily adjustable. Bought one so I can use the stand and charge at the same time.

I picked two of these up for my grandkids. Hopefully it’ll alleviate the hunched shoulders/neck from looking at their Chromebooks on their lap.
