      Both a very weak magnet and very weak suction cup, I would not trust this at all to hold my phone while driving

        It fell apart as I was trying to attach it to the windshield. The magnetic head just fell off and I was not able to put it back on. The screw that holds the magnetic head is tiny, I don't think it would be able to hold heavy cell phone securely.
